RODE DOWN TO GALVESTON ISLAND

My welcoming Committee as I Arrived In Houston

Noisy birds outside my Motel Room

Took a RIDE  down Route 45 (S) to Galveston, a hours ride  South out of Houston City, passing Nasa's Johnson Space Center then riding over a high bridge to get to Galveston Island which is 32miles long and two and half miles wide.
Great walking path along the Seawall, took an early morning walk, reminds  me a lot of the Greenpoint-Seaport Beach walk, anyway as I was walking today noticed that they have a lot of Plagues dedicated to Galveston Citizens. One was to a Lifeguards named " Ducky "  who was credited with saving more than 400 lives, reminded me of my youth, when in High-School I worked as a  Lifeguard in and around East London Beaches and Pools over week-ends and school holidays, well I worked with a guy called "Ducky" as well, but he was a proper 60th's Duck-tail,  I rode a Vespa, in those days but  always had to park it well away from beach, otherwise him and his friends would take it for a joy ride. He had a young son who he used to sit on the sand and bounce a soccer-ball off his head, when I asked why, said he was training him to be a soccer player. It's amazing how things bring back memory's of your past.
