60 Days to Go

As you can see from the title Only 60 days to go, wow getting excited now, all the planning has been done, got my 2 visa's for USA & Canada in my passport, waiting for the Panamanian one, can only be stamped beginning of January 2011, because it's only valid for 3 months once stamped. All injection done camping equipment checked, thermal  underwear  bought, winter gloves, bike booked in for that major service  before we leave.

One thing about Biking it takes you to unforgettable places.

In 2008 after completing a gruelling trip trhough Africa my son-in-law (Dirk) decided to take me on another 1900 mile round trip in 4 days to complete the longest day challenge from John O'Groats to Lands End in one day for Charity.

In John O'Groats

Arriving in Lands End 17 hours non-stop in rain, cold and heavy fog. After phoning ahead and getting dinner organised we arrived with the pub landlord just shrugging his shoulder saying the kitchen is now closed. Dirk and Fanus decided to find a camp place whilst I decided to look for more comfortable accommodation after this long day. Luckily I found a small B&B open and Dirk arrived shortly after with Fanus. They decided to stay as well and after Dirk asked whether we can have our breakfast now the nice lady took pity on us and made some nice dinner which was now well past 22:30.

If only this pub was open the previous night when we arrived!

Heading back to London via Stonehenge

Back in Africa a few months later crossing the Kei river from Transkei on the pont
